Indonesia once again demonstrated its significant role in international cultural diplomacy through the presence of Dr. Eng. Ir. Laretna Trisnantari Adhisakti, M.Arch. (Bu Sita) as a keynote speaker at the international conference Guarding Hometown – Learning Across Domain on 31 October 2025. The conference was held alongside the 48th Annual Conference of Japan’s National Federation for the Preservation and Regeneration of Heritage Cities (Machinami Hozon), which for the first time in the organization’s history took place outside Japan. Indonesia’s participation marked the continuation of its active contribution to developing more inclusive, community-based approaches to heritage conservation.

Yogyakarta, August 19, 2025 – The Undergraduate, Master’s, and Doctoral Programs in Urban and Regional Planning (PWK), Universitas Gadjah Mada, welcomed the 2025/2026 academic year with an inaugural lecture themed “The Role of Information Technology in Enhancing the Effectiveness of Spatial Planning.”
The lecture was held onsite at the SGLC (Smart Green Learning Center) Auditorium, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Gadjah Mada. It was attended by faculty members and students of the PWK program across all levels—undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral—particularly new students.

July 20, 2025—Addressing this issue, Dr. Ir. Tri Mulyani Sunarharum, S.T., a lecturer and researcher from the Department of Architecture and Planning, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Gadjah Mada, delivered a powerful message in a national discussion forum titled Transforming Cities Through Intergenerational Resilience: Integrating Eco-Wellbeing and Social Equity as Pathways to Sustainability. The event, initiated by I AM OKAY X UNA Indonesia, was held via Zoom and brought together speakers from various disciplines, all with a shared concern for sustainable urban development.

Yogyakarta, May 27, 2025 – The Undergraduate Program in Urban and Regional Planning at Universitas Gadjah Mada held another guest lecture on May 27, 2025, with the topic “Learning from Co-Designing Public Space for Environmental and Social Benefit.” The lecture was delivered in a hybrid format and was open to the general public.
This session featured Fildzah Husna Amalina, S.PWK., M.Sc., a Knowledge and Learning Specialist at Kota Kita Foundation, as the speaker.
The speaker emphasized the vital role of community influence in shaping cities, particularly through community-based organizations. Kota Kita Foundation is one such example.

Yogyakarta, 15 Mei 2025 – Kuliah tamu terbuka untuk umum yang diadakan oleh Program Studi Sarjana PWK UGM hadir kembali pada Kamis 15 Mei 2025 dengan judul “Youth Migration and Its Implication for Regional Development”. Kuliah ini mengundang Meirina Ayumi Malamassam, Ph.D, seorang peneliti di Pusat Riset Kependudukan, Badan Riset dan Inovasi Nasional (BRIN).
Kuliah tamu dibuka oleh Sri Tuntung Pandangwati, ST., MUP. selaku dosen pengampu mata kuliah Teori Kependudukan dan dilanjutkan dengan pemaparan materi oleh narasumber.
Yogyakarta, May 15, 2025 – The Undergraduate Program in Urban and Regional Planning (PWK) at Universitas Gadjah Mada, in collaboration with the Master’s Program in Urban and Regional Planning, held another online guest lecture on Thursday, May 15, 2025, titled “Innovation Challenges in the Economic Development of Yogyakarta City.”
The lecture featured Agustin Wijayanti, S.Si., M.Ec.Dev., Head of the Planning Division of the Yogyakarta City Development Planning Agency (Bappeda). The session was moderated by Dr. Eng. Ir. Muhammad Sani Roychansyah, S.T., M.Eng., lecturer of the Urban Economics course. The event was attended by students from both the undergraduate and master’s programs of Urban Economics, and was also open to the public.

Yogyakarta, April 29, 2025 – The Undergraduate Program in Urban and Regional Planning held another guest lecture on Tuesday, April 29, 2025. This edition focused on the theme “Gender Empowerment and Development”, featuring Kiana Puti Aisha, S.PWK, M.A., a Development Practitioner and Policy Partnership Manager for Indonesia – Investing in Women, as the guest speaker.
This guest lecture aimed to explore the role of gender in the context of planning and development, how gender-related issues such as gender equality influence planning policies and practices, and the dynamics and challenges involved.

Yogyakarta, April 23, 2025 – The Undergraduate Program in Urban and Regional Planning held a guest lecture on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, titled “Mainstreaming the Role of Coastal Communities through the OECM Approach”, featuring Faridz Rizal Fachri, S.Kel, M.Si., a practitioner and Program Manager at the Yayasan Pesisir Lestari, as the guest speaker.
The lecture was held virtually and was attended by students from the Urban and Regional Planning Undergraduate Program at UGM as well as members of the general public.
