Monday, February 10th marked the first day of the second semester of Academic Year 2024/2025 at the Department of Architecture and Planning, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Gadjah Mada. To commence the new semester, the Architecture Study Program; in association with the Professional Architect Education Program, had successfully held a public lecture titled ‘Architecting the Future: Urban Innovation for SDGs’. The lecture was held in Room K1 – K2 and was attended on-campus by students from Bachelor, Master, Doctoral, and Professional Program and through an online platform by active students who were still undergoing their internship.
The public lecture invited Ar. Prasetyo, IAI, AA as Director of PT. PDW to be the speaker on this occasion with Dr. Eng. Alexander Rani Suryandono, S.T., M.Arch. as the moderator. In the lecture, Ar. Prasetyo, IAI, AA shared insight about the importance of sustainability that could be achieved through architecture in order to fulfill Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Students were also enriched with new knowledge from the stories and experiences shared by Ar. Prasetyo, IAI, AA about the projects he had managed before.

The lecture was then followed by a question-and-answer session where the students could deliver their questions to the speaker and discuss the topic further. The lecture was closed with a handover of guest lecturer certificate to Ar. Prasetyo, IAI, AA and a group photo session of the speaker with the students.
The topic presented in this lecture is expected to be able to give insights for Architecture students of Universitas Gadjah Mada about the importance of sustainability and enhance their learning experience on campus as the enthusiasm for the next semester begins.
The topic given in this public lecture goes in hand with SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities and SDG 13: Climate Action.
