Dr. Ir. Arif Kusumawanto, M.T., IPU., a lecturer from the Department of Architecture and Planning Engineering at Universitas Gadjah Mada and a member of the Technology Research Group, has published a scientific paper titled “Enhanced Mechanical Properties of the Additively Manufactured Modified Hybrid Stereolithography (SLA)–Glass Powder.” This Scopus-indexed research successfully enhances the mechanical properties of ready-to-use resin products fabricated through additive manufacturing using stereolithography (SLA) reinforced with glass powder.
The study highlights that adding glass powder to SLA resin can improve mechanical strength while reducing flexibility and ductility. Increasing the concentration and dispersion of the glass powder is crucial for achieving a balanced set of mechanical properties, ultimately enhancing the performance of SLA 3D printing for reliable and high-performance engineering applications.
This research aligns with the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, by exploring the potential of resin materials for 3D printing. It holds significance across various industries by enabling product customization, automation, and waste reduction compared to traditional manufacturing methods.
