ARCH:ID returns to Indonesia for the third time on 16-19 March 2023 at ICE BSD, Tangerang. ARCH:ID is a series of architecture festival events containing conferences, exhibitions, sharing sessions, and BIM seminars organised by the Indonesian Architect Association (IAI) together with PT Citra Inovasi Strategi (CIS) Exhibition. This year’s theme is “Identity?” to invite architects and the wider community to reflect and question the state and potential of Indonesia’s architectural and cultural identity.
Although the whole event was held in Tangerang, Architecture UGM in collaboration with ARCH:ID had the privilege to broadcast the conference sessions live. The ARCH:ID “watching together” event was held in room K1-K2 DTAP on Friday (17/3) at 13.30-18.30 WIB. The event could be attended by all Architecture students and the public for free. The participants were enthusiastically watching the conference, which featured renowned architects such as Wolfgang Kessling (Germany), Koen Olthuis (Netherlands), Hanif Kara (UK), Bernard Khoury (Lebanon), and Yori Antar (Indonesia).
In addition, ARCH:ID also provided an opportunity for architecture students to take part in this activity through a public facility/building design competition. After submission, Iqbal Suryo Utomo’s (Architecture Study Programme, 2019) work entitled “Kretek Gadjah Mokhsa” was one of the works that passed the curator’s selection so that Iqbal was entitled to represent UGM at the main ARCH:ID event in Tangerang. This is certainly a pride for UGM Architecture because there are only 10 works that have passed the selection to be exhibited at the ARCH:ID event. Besides being displayed at the exhibition, Iqbal also presented his work at the TujuTuju Student Rally Chat session (19/3). After the presentation of the work, a question and answer session was held to all participants and also closed judging. Iqbal as a representative from UGM along with representatives from UNPAR and UMN were declared as Top 3 Student Awards. Congratulations to the students who have achieved achievements, hopefully it can be an inspiration for other friends.
