ABOUT ARCHITECTURE DOCTORAL STUDY PROGRAM
The Architecture Doctoral Study Program is a field of study that studies built environment as human’s basic physical needs. This study program aims to teach students how to create positive influence through a creative and deliberate design process. The scope of study is from the scale of single buildings to masterplan.
Since architecture is product of adaptation from inhereted values and external factors of the site, students are expected to be sensitive and mindful, while also being rational and empirical in the process of creating the best design, not only for the people living insideit , but also the people and the environment surrounding it.

Credit Units : 40-44
Admission Requirements :
- Holds a masters degree
- Has adequate English Skills, proven by passing English qualification test by UGM (ACEPT) or other English qualification tests
- Has a good track of architecture designs, proven by a portfolio of design works (for holders of master’s degrees in architecture)
- Has a good track of activities, proven by a CV
- Passes the program’s entrance examination

PROGRAM OUTLINE
To produce research-based doctoral graduates who are superior and ethical in the field of architecture / planning by emphasizing the values of locality, culture, and society. This goal is in line with the mission of the first Doctor of Architecture study program, which provides a pressure point on the delivery of quality education without leaving the values held and disseminated by the study program.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
Graduates from the architecture doctoral’s program have the opportunity to work as researchers, practitioners, or professionals in the field of architecture or urban design.
CURRICULUM
The doctoral program requires graduates to understand, express and analyze problems more fundamentally, be able to collaborate with other fields of architecture, and be able to work with all parties and communicate them professionally so that their dedication can be applied in the wider community. The following is a description of the competencies expected after the student completes his education program in the doctoral study program:
MAIN COMPETENCE
- Able to understand and master the field of architecture / planning comprehensively, including systems, programs, and issues related to the field;
- Have a high sensitivity to the problems of sustainable development, management
of cultural values, public welfare, and technology; - Able to develop and apply architectural / planning science, including thinking
comprehensively, providing solutions to problems, and being able to make decisions on various conditions and situations;
SUPPORTING COMPETENCE
- Able to place and implement the knowledge possessed as a tool to improve the quality of people’s lives;
- Able to develop ideas and innovations to solve problems;
- Able to develop academic and professional attitudes in resource management
OTHER COMPETENCIES
- Capable and skilled in using and mastering systems and technology to solve problems and develop architectural / planning scientific fields;
- Able and skilled in applying and mastering data / information /references / materials / working tools properly and correctly in supporting the process of research and development of architecture / planning;
- Able to and skillfully communicate, and be able to develop knowledge that has been widely obtained
