Yogyakarta, August 21, 2025 – The Department of Architecture and Planning (DTAP), Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Gadjah Mada, welcomed an academic visit from Adamson University – College of Architecture, Philippines. The delegation was led by Sylvester Shaun D. Seño, MArch-CTM, ASEAN Ar, Dean of the College of Architecture, with the primary purpose of conducting a benchmarking study of UGM’s Bachelor of Architecture program.

The visit began with an official discussion session at the DTAP meeting room, where the Adamson University delegation was introduced to UGM’s undergraduate architecture curriculum. The presentation covered learning strategies, graduate learning outcomes, and the development of academic programs aligned with the future needs of the architecture profession. This exchange also reflected UGM’s commitment to supporting SDG 4: Quality Education through continuous improvement of higher education quality and innovative, globally adaptive teaching methods.

Following the discussion, the delegation joined a campus tour to observe DTAP’s academic and supporting facilities, including architecture design studios, classrooms, laboratories, and student support facilities. This direct exposure emphasized DTAP UGM’s contribution to SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, by fostering an academic environment that prepares future architects with sustainability awareness, inclusivity, and resilience to face future urban challenges.

The visit is expected to mark the beginning of stronger collaboration between UGM and Adamson University, particularly in architectural education. This collaboration may lead to opportunities for student and faculty exchanges, joint research projects, and the organization of shared academic programs. It also reinforces SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, by strengthening international academic networks across countries.

Through this visit, DTAP UGM reaffirms its position as one of the leading architecture schools actively engaging in global collaboration, in line with UGM’s mission to deliver quality education, contribute to sustainable urban development, and support the global agenda of sustainable development.
