Prof. Bakti Setiawan Speaks at Workshop on Cultural Heritage Protection and Sustainable Infrastructure Development

Prof. Bakti Setiawan, often known as Pak Bobi, was one of the speakers at the workshop “Protection of Cultural Heritage in the Implementation of Sustainable Infrastructure Development Projects in Indonesia” organized by P.T. Sarana Multi Infrastruktur. The event took place at Hotel Plataran Borobudur, Magelang, on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. It was attended by various stakeholders involved in heritage preservation and infrastructure development. The workshop aimed to strengthen cross-sector collaboration so that cultural heritage preservation efforts can go hand in hand with sustainable development. read more

Prof. Ir. Wiendu Nuryanti, M.Arch., Ph.D., lecturer at the Department of Architecture and Planning, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Gadjah Mada, served as one of the keynote speakers at the Wonderful Indonesia Tourism Fair (WITF) and Southeast Asia Business Events Forum (SEABEF) 2025. This prestigious event was organized by the Indonesian Tourism Industry Association (GIPI) in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, held at Hall C9, Conference Area, Nusantara International Convention Exhibition (NICE), PIK 2, Tangerang, Banten, October 12, 2025. In her presentation titled Architecture and Tourism, Prof. Wiendu discussed how architecture serves as the heart of Indonesia’s tourism amid rapid global transformations. read more

Pak Adi as Guest Speaker at Kelana Workshop by HMDI ITS at ISI Yogyakarta

The Interior Design Student Association (HMDI) of the Department of Interior Design, ITS, held the Kelana program on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Gedung Ajiyasa, 2nd Floor, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, ISI Yogyakarta, Sewon, Panggungharjo, Bantul, Yogyakarta. On this occasion, Pak Adi was invited as the main speaker, delivering a presentation titled “DESIGNING WELLNESS: Exploring Health Space in Architecture and Interior Design.”

In his session, Pak Adi guided participants to understand the fundamentals of hospital design, including the design process, master planning, zoning, and spatial concepts for various healthcare facilities. He emphasized that a hospital is not merely a functional building but also a space that must provide comfort, safety, and a healing experience for patients, medical staff, and visitors alike. read more

On Tuesday, August 26, 2025, the Department of Architecture and Planning (DTAP), Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Gadjah Mada held a graduation ceremony for prospective graduates of the Architecture and Urban and Regional Planning (URP) undergraduate programs. The event took place at the DTAP inner court, decorated with outdoor tents, and was held from 13.00 to 15.30 WIB. This farewell ceremony has become a regular tradition prior to the official commencement at Grha Sabha Pramana (GSP) UGM the following day. read more

Visit of Adamson University – College of Architecture, Philippines to DTAP UGM

Yogyakarta, August 21, 2025 – The Department of Architecture and Planning (DTAP), Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Gadjah Mada, welcomed an academic visit from Adamson University – College of Architecture, Philippines. The delegation was led by Sylvester Shaun D. Seño, MArch-CTM, ASEAN Ar, Dean of the College of Architecture, with the primary purpose of conducting a benchmarking study of UGM’s Bachelor of Architecture program.

The visit began with an official discussion session at the DTAP meeting room, where the Adamson University delegation was introduced to UGM’s undergraduate architecture curriculum. The presentation covered learning strategies, graduate learning outcomes, and the development of academic programs aligned with the future needs of the architecture profession. This exchange also reflected UGM’s commitment to supporting SDG 4: Quality Education through continuous improvement of higher education quality and innovative, globally adaptive teaching methods. read more

Field Study of MPWK UGM in Krakitan Village: Learning from the Community, Building Theory from Reality

From May 23 to 25, 2025, students of the Master of Urban and Regional Planning (MPWK) Program at Universitas Gadjah Mada conducted a field study for the Research Methodology course in Krakitan Village, Bayat District, Klaten Regency. The activity aimed to apply an inductive approach directly in the field as a method to build planning knowledge grounded in local social, cultural, and environmental realities.

The first day began with a visit to the Krakitan Village Head’s office for an interview about the village’s history and to map observation points. Afterwards, students were divided into three groups (Macro, Meso, and Micro) to conduct interviews with residents. In addition to collecting social and economic data, students observed how daily activities and local history shape the village’s space and identity. read more

Thesis of the Year and Student’s Design Competition ARCASIA Indonesia 2025 Exhibition at Universitas Gadjah Mada

To celebrate the selection of candidates for the Thesis of the Year (TOY) and Student’s Design Competition (SDC) of the Architects Regional Council Asia (ARCASIA) 2025 by the Association of Architectural Higher Education in Indonesia (APTARI) and the Indonesian Institute of Architects (IAI), the Undergraduate Architecture Program, Department of Architecture and Planning, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Gadjah Mada held the TOY & SDC ARCASIA Indonesia 2025 Exhibition.

This exhibition showcases 13 TOY finalists and 10 SDC finalists who were selected through a two-stage process: the regional level by APTARI and the national level by IAI. As the initiator of this exhibition, IAI appointed undergraduate architecture programs at 14 universities across Indonesia, including Universitas Gadjah Mada, as the host of the TOY and SDC ARCASIA 2025 Indonesia exhibition from July 7 to August 8, 2025. Specifically for UGM, the exhibition was extended until mid-August 2025 to welcome the new batch of architecture students. In organizing this exhibition, IAI required participating programs to present works anonymously to maintain fairness in the Asia-level judging process and to design the exhibition in a way that reflects the uniqueness of each university. read more

Final Presentation of Studio 2 – Architectural Building Technology Research Group

Monday, August 25, 2025, marked the Inauguration of the Architect Profession for the August 2025 Period. The ceremony was held at Pendapa Tedjo Suminto and attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Gadjah Mada, faculty members of the Architecture Program, invited guests including representatives from IAI and external architectural partners, and, of course, the main highlight of the event: the students being inaugurated.

The event began with the singing of Indonesia Raya and the Hymn of Gadjah Mada, followed by opening remarks from the Dean of FT UGM, Prof. Ir. Selo, S.T., M.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., and a speech by the Chairman of IAI, Ar. Georgius Budi Yulianto, S.T., M.T., IAI, AA. The ceremony then continued with the signing of a cooperation charter by the Dean of FT UGM, Prof. Ir. Selo, S.T., M.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., representing DTAP UGM, alongside Ar. Arwan Suryanto, S.T., M.Sc., IAI; R. Bimanova Adiasta Permana, S.Ars. (CV Permana Adikinarya); Jonathan Sanjaya, S.T., IAI (CV Sanjaya Architecture); Ar. Arief Isrefidianto, S.T., MAUD, IAI (PT Cipta Tuntas Laras); Ar. Wahju Wulandari, S.T., MBA, IAI, AA (PT Global Rancang Selaras); and Ar. Primavera Desta A.P., S.T., M.Sc. This event was a continuation of similar activities at the study program level (Architecture and Urban and Regional Planning), which previously took place as part of PPSMB UGM: Pionir Kesatria 2025. Through this activity, new students were introduced to the academic environment, learning culture, and community that will become their home for the next few years. read more

The exhibition took place throughout July 2025, showcasing final projects of senior students in the form of models and posters. These works presented innovative architectural ideas that respond to contemporary challenges, ranging from cultural heritage preservation, community development, and sustainability issues, to the integration of technology in building design. read more
