In the first quarter of 2026, the Department of Architecture and Planning Engineering (DTAP), Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), officially graduated 17 undergraduate students. This cohort consists of 11 graduates from the Architecture Study Program and 6 graduates from the Urban and Regional Planning (URP) Study Program. The February 2026 graduation period marks an important milestone for students who have successfully completed their academic journey.

From the Architecture Study Program, graduates achieved a GPA ranging from 3.10 to 3.70, with an average GPA of 3.42. The highest GPA was earned by Raihan Lazuardi Suyono (Class of 2021), who achieved a GPA of 3.70. The average study duration was 4 years and 11 months, while the fastest completion time was 4 years and 1 month, accomplished by Bening Putri Kasandra. The youngest graduate in this period was Chantal Maheeyaridy, aged 21 years and 10 months. read more

Inventory and documentation are integral parts of heritage area planning and serve as a fundamental basis for overall heritage conservation. The inventory and documentation of heritage areas aim to generate comprehensive information on existing heritage assets within a particular area, including their presence, descriptions, and assessments of significance. The compiled heritage information is then used as a reference for decision-making in planning processes.

One of the challenges faced by Indonesia is that many heritage assets: natural, cultural, and cultural landscapes, are still poorly documented or have not been documented at all. As a result, many of these assets have deteriorated or even disappeared. Village-level heritage assets, including those in villages across the Special Region of Yogyakarta, are also facing threats such as declining heritage values due to a lack of public awareness, neglect, and increasing development pressures. read more

The cool atmosphere of the slopes of Mount Andong in Girirejo Village, Ngablak District, Magelang Regency, now offers more than just the beautiful scenery typical of mountainous areas. Over the past few years, this area has also become a living laboratory for a team of lecturers from the Architectural Design Expertise Group, Department of Architecture and Planning Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Gadjah Mada, who have consistently accompanied the local community in developing sustainable, community-based tourism potential. This community service program, which has been running since 2022, has now entered its fourth year of implementation. read more

On Friday, 26 September 2025, the Architecture Study Program at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) successfully held an event entitled “MateREALity: AutoConz 3D Construction Printing” as part of the MateREALity 2025/2026 series. The activity was shared via Instagram and featured on the official @architecture.ugm account.

The session focused on the introduction and exploration of 3D construction printing technology as an innovation in the construction industry. The event was organized in collaboration with DEKKSON, which introduced AutoConz technology as one of the breakthroughs in future construction methods. read more

Saturday, 27 September 2025 – Students of the Master of Urban Design Program, Cohort 6, conducted a field study in Tambaklorok, Semarang. Tambaklorok is the largest fishing settlement in Semarang and is directly adjacent to the Java Sea. This activity was part of the course Disaster-Resilient Area Design, under the supervision of Dr. Ardhya Nareswari and Dr. Atrida Hadianti.

Through this case study, students were expected to develop design proposals for a disaster-resilient area while continuing to accommodate and support the daily activities of the local community. read more

Yogyakarta, 31 October 2025 – The Undergraduate Program of Urban and Regional Planning (PWK), Universitas Gadjah Mada, once again held a guest lecture entitled “Towards Sustainable Industrial Areas: Concepts, Governance, and Development Strategies of the Batang Integrated Industrial Estate (KIT Batang).” The lecture was conducted offline and was open to the public at the DTAP Building, Universitas Gadjah Mada. Yogyakarta, 24 October 2025 – The Department of Urban and Regional Planning (PWK), Universitas Gadjah Mada, once again hosted an online guest lecture featuring Jelle Thery, MLA, a Landscape Architect and Founder of Urban Nature. The lecture was entitled “Integrated Water Resilience, Designing for Biodiversity, and Creating Happy Places for People (Forming Accessible Places Where Nature and People Find a Balance).”

In this lecture, Jelle Thery discussed landscape architecture concepts centered on a harmonious relationship between humans and nature. The main issue highlighted was the importance of Regenerative Design, an approach that focuses not only on sustainability but also on the restoration of natural ecosystems. This approach integrates urban water management (water resilience), the enhancement of biodiversity, and the creation of healthy and enjoyable public spaces (happy places). In this context, Jelle emphasized that nature should be understood as a system intrinsically connected to humans, rather than merely a backdrop, and that design must foster a symbiotic relationship between the two. read more

Yogyakarta, 28 October 2025 – In this edition, the Department of Urban and Regional Planning (PWK), Universitas Gadjah Mada, held a guest lecture entitled “Property Market Research.” The lecture was conducted offline at the Department of Architecture and Planning Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Gadjah Mada. The event featured Nurul Soraya Desi Yonasari, Senior Researcher at Colliers Indonesia, as the guest speaker.

In this guest lecture, Nurul Soraya delivered a comprehensive discussion on property market research, with a particular focus on the hospitality sector. The session began with a fundamental understanding of hotels, covering classifications based on star ratings and travel purposes, as well as an introduction to hotel chains and branding concepts. read more

Yogyakarta, 25 September 2025 – The Department of Urban and Regional Planning (PWK), Universitas Gadjah Mada, held a guest lecture entitled “Systems Approach to Planning” conducted offline at the Building of the Department of Architecture and Planning Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Gadjah Mada. The lecture was open to members of the academic community as well as the general public.
