MPWK UGM Students Conduct Field Survey in West Java

Graduate students from the Master of Urban and Regional Planning Program (MPWK) at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) carried out a field study in several areas across West Java from February 24 to 28, 2025. This activity is part of the academic process aimed at analyzing potentials and identifying issues to support the preparation of urban and regional development plans.

The field study covered four locations: Cimahi City, Cibitung, Bekasi Regency, and Bogor City. These sites were selected based on the focus of each studio group, which was divided into two main areas of interest: city-scale planning and regional-scale planning. read more

Public Lectures Welcoming the New Semester 2025

To welcome the new semester, study programs in the Department of Architecture and Planning held public lectures by inviting practitioners and academics from various backgrounds. This public lecture aims to be a forum for sharing the latest knowledge and experiences in architecture and planning. In addition, this event also prepares students to start their studies again.

On February 7, 2025, Urban and Regional Planning invited Dr. Sonia Roitman (Associate Professor, University of Queensland). Dr. Sonia gave a lecture titled “Indonesian Planning in Southern Planning Context”. The event took place in the 2nd Floor Meeting Room and was open to undergraduate to doctoral level URP students. In her lecture, Dr. Sonia explained the importance of inclusive and sustainable planning in the context of developing countries. This aligns with SDGs goal number 11, which is to create more inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable cities and settlements. And supports SDGs number 16, namely peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, providing access to justice for all, and building effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels. read more

Release of DTAP Bachelor Graduates November Period 2024

On Tuesday (19/11), the Department of Architecture and Planning held another event to release graduates of the Architecture and Planning Undergraduate Program. The event took place in Room K1 2nd Floor which had begun to open since 09.00 WIB. The graduates accompanied by parents / guardians seemed to be present with great joy and pride.

The release of this period was attended by 21 students of the Architecture program and 6 students of the Urban and Regional Planning program. At 09.30 WIB, the event officially began with the reading of prayers and singing the Indonesia Raya song and the hymn of Universitas Gadjah Mada. Then continued with remarks by Ir. Dimas Wihardyanto, S.T., M.T., IPM. (DTAP Lecturer Representative). read more

Architecture Doctoral Program Guest Lecture: Integrating Türkiye Architecture into Halal Tourism

Recently, the Architecture Study Program of the Department of Architecture and Planning, Faculty of Engineering, Universaitas Gadjah Mada successfully held a guest lecture entitled “Integrating Türkiye Architecture into Halal Tourism“. This activity invited Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Pamukçu who is a lecturer from the Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Afyon Kocatepe University, Türkiye.

This activity was held on Friday, November 1, 2024 in Lecture Room 1 of the Department of Architecture and Planning, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Gadjah Mada. This activity was attended by students of the Doctoral Program in Architecture, Master Program in Architecture with Tourism Concentration, and Bachelor Program in Architecture who took Tourism Architecture, Thematic Studio with Prof. Ir. Wiendu Nuryanti, M.Arch., Ph.D., and Materiality. read more

Department of Architecture and Planning Receives Visit from Groningen University to Discuss Cooperation Opportunities

Groningen University, the Netherlands visited the Department of Architecture and Planning, Faculty of Engineering UGM (Thursday, 26/10). Groningen University was represented by Prof. Ronald Holzhacker, Prof. Johan Woltjer, and Dr. Annet Kempenaar. This event was a return visit in the framework of the Faculty of Engineering’s cooperation exploration program with Groningen University last August.

The group was welcomed by Ir. Deva Fosterharoldas Swasto, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., IPM. (Head of the Department of Architecture and Planning) and also Prof. Ir. Bakti Setiawan, MA, Ph.D. (Head of the Urban and Regional Planning Doctoral Program). Followed by a tour of the DTAP environment to see the ongoing teaching and learning activities and student works on display. read more

Visit of Wijayakusuma University, Purwokerto

On Tuesday (17/10) the Department of Architecture and Planning UGM received a visit from the Bachelor of Architecture program, Wijayakusuma University, Purwokerto. The visit aimed to get information about further studies after graduating from Architecture.

The visit started immediately when a group of students and lecturers from Wijayakusuma University arrived at the Conference Room at 13.30. The group was then welcomed directly by Diananta Pramitasari, S.T., M.Eng., Ph.D. as the head of the Master of Architecture study program. This was followed by a presentation and description of the master’s programs at DTAP, especially the Master of Architecture. Ms. Dian explained about the concentrations in Master of Architecture, the differences with other Master programs and PPAr, and the job prospects of graduates. Friends from Wijayakusuma University seemed enthusiastic to hear the presentation while asking various questions. read more

Study Excursie Universitas Jember

On Thursday (7/9) the UGM Urban and Regional Planning (URP) study program received a field study visit from the URP study program, University of Jember, East Java. The visit carried the theme “Development of Environment-Problem Based Tourism Destinations” which aims to study tourism development planning in Yogyakarta. Before visiting UGM, they also visited the Yogyakarta Tourism Office.

Since 11:00 a.m., the group of students and lecturers from Jember University had filled the K3 DTAP room where the visit took place. The group was then welcomed directly by Ir. Deva Fosterharoldas Swasto, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., IPM. representing the PWK study program. The event continued with exposure and description of the PWK study program, such as history, latest curriculum, accreditation, academic activities, and student achievements. Friends from the University of Jember seemed enthusiastic to hear the presentation while asking various questions which were immediately explained by Mr. Deva. read more

Halu Uleo University Field Study

UGM Architecture study programme received another study visit on Thursday (26/1). This time, the field study came from Universitas Halu Uleo (UHO), Kendari. The visit with the theme “Green Smart Building & Culture” also aims to study the new building of the Faculty of Engineering, the SGLC building. The group of UHO students and lecturers were then received by Dr. Ahmad Nasikun, S.T., M.Sc. as the Manager of Student Affairs of the Faculty of Engineering and Nur Zahrotunnisaa Zagi, S.T., M.T. as a representative of Architecture. read more

The Department of Architecture and Planning’s 60th Anniversary Gala

Since its establishment in 1962, the Department of Architecture and Planning (DTAP) has now turned 60 years old. To commemorate the DTAP anniversary, a number of events were held, including the DTAP Sportsfest in August and the DTAP Anniversary Celebration in September.Until finally, the highlight of the 60th anniversary of the Department of Architecture and Planning was held on Saturday, December 17, 2022.

The peak event started in the morning at 06.30 with a healthy walk and group gymnastics. This activity is an internal event attended by lecturers, students, and employees, along with their families, and there are also student representatives. The event took place on a lively stage with an entertainment stage where lecturers and students joined in singing on stage. Then, there was a door prize draw that all participants had been waiting for the most. After various consolation prizes were distributed, it was time to draw the main prizes, which were 3 television units, 1 refrigerator unit, and 2 folding bicycle units. The morning event was declared over after the main prizes were distributed to the lucky winners. read more

Release of November 2022 Period Graduates

On Tuesday (22/11), the Department of Architecture and Planning held a release ceremony for graduates of the Bachelor program in room K1. There were 9 students from the Bachelor of Architecture program and 21 students from the Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning program at the graduation this November.

The graduates accompanied by their parents or guardians seemed to have started attending the event since 13.00. The event was then opened by singing the Indonesia Raya song and delivering remarks from Ir. Deva Fosterharoldas Swasto, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., IPM. as Head of Department. The graduation ceremony was also attended by all levels of management, lecturers and staff of the Department of Architecture and Planning. read more
