The event carried the theme “Transformation of Infrastructure Development in Indonesia: Human Resources, Technology, and Sustainable Development” and brought together speakers from a wide range of related disciplines.
In her session titled “Sustainable Urban Futures”, Dr. Sunarharum highlighted the key challenges of urban development such as rapid urbanization, climate change, and multidimensional poverty. She stressed the importance of integrating social, economic, environmental, and governance aspects into urban planning to realize cities that are inclusive, resilient, and sustainable for future generations.
Furthermore, she outlined strategies for sustainable urban development through a comprehensive approach, ranging from strengthening national urban policies, regulations, and governance, to promoting human-centered planning and inclusive urban economies. She also emphasized the importance of learning from global practices such as the Singapore Green Plan 2030, which can serve as inspiration for the development of cities in Indonesia.
