On Wednesday, 20 August 2025, the Department of Architecture and Planning (DTAP) at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) held an Info Day for incoming undergraduate students. This event was a continuation of similar activities at the study program level (Architecture and Urban and Regional Planning), which previously took place as part of PPSMB UGM: Pionir Kesatria 2025. Through this activity, new students were introduced to the academic environment, learning culture, and community that will become their home for the next few years.
The event took place from 10:10 AM to 11:50 AM in Rooms K1 and K2, 2nd floor, West Wing Building of DTAP. It was attended by new students, lecturers, and educational staff of DTAP. The atmosphere was filled with enthusiasm, as students actively engaged and showed great excitement throughout the program.
The main presentation was delivered by Ir. Deva Fosterharoldas Swasto, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., IPM., Head of Department. In his remarks, he elaborated on the history of DTAP, including the establishment of eight academic programs. He also emphasized the importance of achieving international accreditation as a recognition of educational quality, namely KAAB (Korea Architectural Accrediting Board) for the Architecture program and ASIIN (Accreditation Agency for Study Programmes in Engineering, Informatics, Natural Sciences and Mathematics) for the Urban and Regional Planning program.
During the event, the new students were introduced to all lecturers teaching at DTAP, both in Architecture and Planning. In addition, the educational staff who play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of academic activities were also introduced one by one. This was intended to highlight that the continuity of learning activities relies on close collaboration between lecturers and supporting staff.
Towards the end of the event, the Head of Department presented information about various academic and supporting facilities available at DTAP. These facilities are designed to support students in learning, conducting research, and developing their potential throughout their studies. After a Q&A session, the event concluded with a joint prayer, marking the official closing at 11:50 AM.
Beyond academic orientation, DTAP Info Day also resonates with the global agenda of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). First, the activity supports SDG 4 – Quality Education, as it reflects DTAP’s commitment to providing high-quality education with international accreditation standards. Second, it reinforces DTAP’s contribution to SDG 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities, given that the fields of architecture and urban and regional planning are directly connected to sustainable settlement development.
Moreover, the achievement of international recognition reflects DTAP’s integration with the global academic community, in line with SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals. Collaboration with international accreditation bodies demonstrates that DTAP not only focuses on internal development but also seeks synergy with the global academic network. Thus, Info Day is not merely an introductory program for new students but also an affirmation of DTAP’s role as part of the global movement toward sustainable development.
