February 13, 2026 – The Architecture Study Program of Universitas Gadjah Mada hosted the event “99% Abstraksi: Voice of The Village – Eko Prawoto”, organized by the Yayasan Eko Agus Prawoto (YEAP) in collaboration with UGM, the Indonesian Institute of Architects (IAI) DIY, and OMAH Library. The event was held in a hybrid format for approximately three hours and was attended by practitioners, academics, and architecture students from various regions, both onsite and online.
The event opened with welcoming remarks from Krisna Thahja, representing the Yayasan Eko Agus Prawoto, who attended in person. Participants also watched a recorded message from Rinawati Adhypranata, the wife of the late Eko Prawoto. Her remarks served as a reflective moment, reminding the audience of Eko Prawoto’s figure and contributions to Indonesian architecture.
The program featured Realrich Sjarief as the main discussant in the book review session of The Voice of The Village, with responses from Harry Kurniawan, Ikaputra, and Bakti Setiawan. The discussion examined the book chapter by chapter, allowing participants to gain deeper insights into the ideas, approaches, and intellectual journey that underlie the architectural works of Eko Prawoto.
During the discussion, the speakers highlighted how The Voice of The Village portrays the distinctive character and spirit of Eko Prawoto’s architecture. The concept of participatory architecture was also emphasized, in which Eko Prawoto positioned the architect as a facilitator who helps realize spatial ideas through the active involvement of the community as the users.
In addition to discussing architectural works, the book also presents Eko Prawoto’s academic journey, including the ideas developed in his final projects during his undergraduate and master’s studies. Through this collection of writings, readers are invited to understand the formative process of architectural ideas that later evolved in his professional practice.
The book concludes with a section titled “Closing Note – Happy Birthday Our Father Eko Agus Prawoto in Heaven” which serves as both a tribute and a reflection on his contributions and intellectual legacy to the development of architecture in Indonesia.
Through this event, participants were not only invited to remember the figure of Eko Prawoto, but also to reflect on the role of architecture in serving communities. The discussion also highlighted the relevance of participatory architectural approaches in supporting inclusive and sustainable development, in line with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, particularly Target 11.3, which emphasizes the importance of inclusive and participatory settlement planning.
