Yogyakarta, 19 November 2025 – Prof. Ir. Bakti Setiawan, M.A., Ph.D., commonly known as Prof. Bobi, Professor of Urban and Regional Planning at Universitas Gadjah Mada, attended the peak event of the 2025 Gebyar Hari Agraria dan Tata Ruang (Hantaru) at the invitation of the Yogyakarta City Land and Spatial Planning Office (Dinpertaru). The event, themed “Padhang Resik Jogjaku” (Bright and Clean Yogyakarta), took place on Tuesday, 18 November 2025, at Hotel Royal Darmo Malioboro, Yogyakarta. The presence of this senior urban planning expert reflects strong academic support for the city government’s efforts to create a more humane and sustainable urban environment.
The theme “Padhang Resik Jogjaku” highlighted two critical spatial planning issues currently faced by Yogyakarta: visual clutter and physical waste. “Padhang” refers to efforts to regulate billboards and outdoor media so that they do not disrupt city aesthetics or safety, while “Resik” relates to the Mas Jos initiative (Masyarakat Jogja Olah Sampah), a community movement tackling urban waste. Emphasizing these aspects aligns closely with Prof. Bobi’s expertise, as he has long advocated for balanced management of the built environment, combining aesthetics with ecological function.
The 2025 Gebyar Hantaru celebration also featured an awards ceremony for competition winners in video reels, essays, photography, and posters, with a total of 804 participants from across the region. The high level of community engagement, including participation from elementary school students, reflects growing awareness of the importance of spatial planning and environmental cleanliness from an early age. The event was not merely ceremonial but also served as a public education platform, fostering a new culture of collective responsibility for urban space.
This initiative is closely linked to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 11 on Sustainable Cities and Communities and SDG 12 on Responsible Consumption and Production. Through collaboration between government, academics like Prof. Bobi, and the community, Yogyakarta aims to create inclusive, safe, and resilient living spaces in the face of urbanization challenges. The 2025 Hantaru celebration is expected to act as a catalyst for land management that is not only administratively orderly but also directly improves the quality of life for Yogyakarta residents.
