SKALA (Semangat Kebersamaan Archiplan, or Spirit of Togetherness of Archiplan) is an activity of the Department of Architecture and Planning, which aims to introduce new students to the department environment and strengthen relationships both professional and personal between each study program. The reason for the holding of the SKALA is the Architecture Study Program and the Urban and Regional Planning Study Program on one roof, so that they should know each other and facilitate future cooperation, according to the jargon ‘Archiplan? One! ‘From the Department of Architecture and Planning.
This year, the SKALA held was SKALA 58 with the participants, namely all new students in the Architecture Study Program and the Urban and Regional Planning Study Program. The theme of the SKALA this year is ‘Unity in Diversity’, which is meant with different backgrounds in Architecture and Urban and Regional Planning Study Programs, but is still accommodated not only by one roof but also a sense of togetherness.
The SKALA activities opened with Stadium Generale, which was held at DTAP. Stadium Generale contains explanation of SKALA and assignments about architectural figures and planning to new students. The first day of the SKALA which took place on September 21, 2019 contained a Focus Group Discussion on ‘Inspirational Seniors’, which contained senior achievers who gave inspiration to new students. Then the activity continued with ‘SKALA Go’ which was a trip for SKALA participants to Kotagede. SKALA Go has a cultural theme so that the meeting points are divided into 1. Kotagede Mosque, 2. Rukunan Alley, 3. Watugilang, and 4. Omah UGM. In Kotagede, SKALA participants learned about the acculturation of Hindu-Buddhist-Javanese culture in building architecture and spatial use. After the SKALA Go activities in Kotagede ended, the participants returned to DTAP to make an interactive poster related to the activities they carried out and the impression of messages during the SKALA Go activities.
The second day of SKALA took place on September 22, 2019, the first activity of the second day was the SKALA participants traveling around DTAP for the introduction of BSO in this department. Then the event continued with APSI, or Appreciation of Art. In APSI, the SKALA participants were divided into 6 joint groups of Architecture and Urban and Regional Planning students, where each group performed art performances with a folklore theme.
In the afternoon the event continued with force games where all the forces had to work together in finding directions in the form of maps distributed throughout the DTAP. In the evening, as the closing ceremony of the event, Mr. Irsyad Adhi Waskita Hutama, S.T., M.Scas was invited as a representative of the department was invited to give a closing remarks as well as to remind again about the importance of the spirit of unity for the Architecture and Planning Department. Closing was enlivened by BMW (Bengkel Musik Wiswakharman, or Wiswakharman Music Workshop) as one of the BSO Bands to close the event by playing music and singing together. By procuring the introduction of departments and SKALA, it is hoped that the objectives of this activity are in line with the SKALA tagline itself in the Archiplan Spirit of Togetherness.
