Yogyakarta, June 1, 2025 — The Gadjah Mada City Festival (Festagama) returned in 2025. Festagama is an annual festival open to the public, organized by students of the Urban and Regional Planning Program, Department of Architecture and Planning, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Gadjah Mada—specifically the 2023 and 2024 cohorts. The festival serves as a space for creative exploration that connects art, the city, and the community.
The 13th edition, Festagama 13.0, carries the theme “Citra Musim Rupa Kota” (Seasons of the City’s Images). This theme invites participants to explore urban dynamics through the diversity of seasons, showcasing how a city can adapt to various seasonal changes—covering aspects of urban infrastructure, city image and experience, and the aesthetics of public spaces.
Festagama 13.0 presents a fresh look and new innovations, no less exciting than in previous years. A special highlight this year is the event jingle entitled “Festagama, the Shining City”, performed by Festagama Voices. This marks a distinctive feature of this year’s festival, as the jingle is made available publicly on YouTube and Spotify.
The two-day festival, held on May 31 – June 1, 2025 at JNM Bloc, Yogyakarta, features four main programs: Laga Kala, Tutur Kala, Tera Kala, and Citra Kala.
Laga Kala is a competition segment consisting of three categories: Scientific Papers, Posters, and Photography. With the theme “Citra Musim, Rupa Kota”, the competition aims to raise public awareness of the relationship between seasonal changes and urban dynamics, while encouraging society to contribute toward shaping better urban futures. Submissions were received from April to May 2025.
Tutur Kala offers a constructive and inclusive discussion forum through talk shows and workshops on the festival’s theme. Participants are invited to broaden perspectives and engage in discussions with academics and practitioners in the field of urban and regional planning. This year’s talk show featured Dr. Ir. Tri Mulyani Sunarharum, S.T., lecturer of the Urban and Regional Planning Program, and Najwa Nur Awalia, cast of Clash of Champions and coach of Academy of Champions by Ruangguru. The session was moderated by Danang Giri Sadewa, an education influencer.
Tera Kala serves as a spatial education space representing the Urban and Regional Planning Program. It invites visitors to explore various works presented in visual and interactive exhibition formats, themed around seasonal change and its connection to urban dynamics. Participants could interact with the works and gain insight into their background and meaning.
Finally, Citra Kala opens and closes the entire festival. The opening ceremony featured remarks and symbolic inaugurations, while the closing ceremony included the announcement of competition winners and various performances by talented student groups from Universitas Gadjah Mada, such as Responsi, GAMABAND, and Sastra Oebah. Visitors could also capture their experiences at dedicated photobooths located throughout the exhibition area.
Festagama continues to serve as a platform to introduce the field of urban and regional planning to the wider public, highlighting the importance of collaboration and participation across sectors in achieving sustainable urban management. It is hoped that Festagama 13.0 and future editions will continue to bring more vibrant atmospheres, innovative ideas, and positive impacts for all those involved.
