Localinsa is a local tourism organization based in Seoul, focusing on community-based tourism development and the preservation of neighborhood identity. The connection between Localinsa and the 2025 UGM KKA students was facilitated by a UGM Architecture lecturer, whose collaboration with Localinsa began during her doctoral studies in Seoul. This partnership has included various ecotourism projects that emphasize environmental sustainability, local community involvement, and the strengthening of cultural values.
As part of the Kuliah Kerja Arsitektur (KKA) 2025 program, this opportunity was used to introduce the CEO of Localinsa, Jeon Seo Eun, to undergraduate Architecture students from DTAP UGM. Jeon Seo Eun was invited as a guest lecturer, delivering a talk titled inclusive space in cities, which discussed how urban space planning can accommodate diversity and encourage engagement from all segments of society. Following the lecture, she guided the KKA Seoul 2025 participants on a field tour of Ikseondong—a historic district in central Seoul that has been successfully revitalized through creative approaches without losing its original character.
In addition to the activities with students, on October 1, 2025, UGM Architecture faculty member Odilia Renaningtyas Manifesty, S.T., MA(UD), Ph.D., attended an official meeting at Localinsa’s office. The meeting served as a platform for in-depth discussions to explore various strategic collaboration opportunities between DTAP UGM and Localinsa. Key points on the agenda included plans to host KKA 2026 in Seoul, thematic field trips for UGM Architecture and Planning students, knowledge exchange programs on sustainable tourism area management, and potential joint research in public space design and the development of local tourism destinations.
This dialogue paved the way for interdisciplinary collaboration, integrating perspectives from architecture, urban planning, and sustainable tourism, with a direct impact on enriching students learning experiences.
