Yogyakarta, September 15, 2026 The Faculty of Engineering at Universitas Gadjah Mada (FT UGM) has issued Circular Letter Number 1193007/UN1/FTK/I/KM/2026 concerning the Regulations on Student Celebrations Following Final Examinations. The circular regulates how students may celebrate after completing their final examinations, ensuring that such celebrations remain simple, dignified, and in accordance with campus ethics.

In the circular, which was issued in Yogyakarta on July 30, 2026, FT UGM emphasizes that celebrating academic achievements is both a form of appreciation and a student’s right. However, celebrations must be conducted while maintaining order and respecting the comfort of the academic community.

One of the main provisions states that celebrations on campus may only be held after the entire examination process and the announcement of the results have been completed. Students are expected to continue observing academic ethics and considering the comfort of other members of the academic community during the celebration.

The circular also emphasizes that students are entitled to use their academic or professional titles only upon the completion of the official graduation (yudisium) process and after receiving their diploma, once all academic and administrative requirements for obtaining the degree have been fulfilled.

Therefore, FT UGM encourages students to celebrate their achievements after completing all official academic procedures. Celebrations are expected to serve as a form of appreciation for students’ hard work and achievements without disregarding academic regulations or the comfort of the campus environment.

The circular was signed by the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Universitas Gadjah Mada, Prof. Ir. Selo, S.T., M.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., IPU, ASEAN Eng., on July 30, 2026.

In essence, students are still permitted to celebrate the completion of their final examinations. However, celebrations on campus may only take place after the examination process and announcement of the results have been completed, while the use of any attributes indicating an academic degree or official graduation must wait until the student has been formally confirmed as a graduate through the yudisium process.
