Public Lecture ‘Start-Ups and Cities’ with Nodeflux

Nodeflux itself is a AI (Artificial Intelligence) Start-Up originating from Indonesia in which engaged in the field of Big Data Analysis. Nodeflux is focused on developing deep learning computer vision to provide Intelligent Video Analytics (IVA) solutions toward complex issues faced by multi sectoral industries and modern society. read more

Info Day: Introducing Academic Community of the Department of Architecture and Planning with Students

Monday, August 12, 2019, the Department of Architecture and Planning UGM held an Info Day event which was an event to introduce the Department of Architecture and Planning as a whole. This Info Day was attended by all new students, both for the S1 and S2 Program in the Architecture Study Program and the S1 and S2 in the Urban and Regional Planning Study Program.

The Info Day event began with an introduction to the KM / HM of each study program at 06.30. Especially for the introduction of KM / HM, it was only followed by new undergraduate students who then continued with the Campus Tour. At 08.00 all-new S1 and S2 students, both from the Architecture Study Program and Urban and Regional Planning Study Program gathered at K1 Room to introduce further about Department of Architecture and Planning, staff and lecturers. read more

Workshop on Urban Regeneration, MURP UGM Collaboration with KotaLab

Yogyakarta as a heritage city, has been facing unprecedented development pressure to achieve sustainable development. This recent time, the approach of urban heritage conservation has been only using the method that neglects the economic sectors. Urban regeneration is one of a new approach for developing the conservation of economy and social dimensions to achieve sustainable cities.

Master Program in Urban and Regional Planning (MURP), Department of Architecture and Planning UGM in collaboration with KotaLab – City Lab in Indonesia with support from IAP, IAI Yogyakarta and The Government of Yogyakarta held the Workshop in Urban Regeneration. This workshop was designed to be a knowledge transfer process from France experiences on urban regeneration to Indonesia in the real case project, Kotabaru as the part of the heritage area in Yogyakarta. Through this workshop, experiences from France will be a benefit to Indonesian planners and architect with a real case study project read more

Joint Studio Urban and Regional Planning Study Program with University of Queensland

Joint Studio is an annual activity that is included in elective courses in Urban and Regional Planning Study Program. Joint Studio activity is collaborating with the University of Queensland, Australia since 2015. The purpose of the Joint Studio is to make planners in the future be able to deal with and solve problems, both in the economic, social and environmental fields faced by people throughout the world. Each year the University of Queensland sends average 30 students to Indonesia and coordinated by Dr. Sonia Roitman, Associate Professor Ron Johnstone, and Dr. Karen McNamara. read more

Wiswakharman Expo 2019 : Indonesia’s Rich Tourism Potentials Responding Architecture

Wiswakharman Expo is an annual event held by students of the UGM Architecture Study Program. The event contained an exhibition of architectural design works as a form of student excursions after visiting several places both domestic and overseas known as Kuliah Kerja Arsitektur (KKA). WEX 2019 held at Prambanan Temple presented the theme “Indonesia ‘s Rich Tourism Potential Responding Architecture” with the tagline “Ruang yang Terlewat” which is the result of KKA to Bali, Singapore, and Bangkok. The theme implies that many places in Indonesia are rich in beauty and tourism potential but are still “overlooked” by the community. The hope is that the architectural design exhibition presented can encourage people to be more explorative in exploring tourism objects in Indonesia. read more

Public Lecture “Documentation of Development Problems in Indonesia” with WatchDoc.

On Thursday (25/4), Dandhy Laksono, a WatchDoc crew shared his knowledge and experience in making documentary films that raised the issue of development.

The use of documentary films as media to raise development issues in Indonesia is now increasing. Films are chosen because tend not to be boring so that they can attract more audiences and hope that the message or issue to be raised can be more easily conveyed. Documentation of development issues through documentaries is also interesting and has various challenges ranging from the process of planning and discovery of issues to taking pictures. read more

Urban and Regional Planning Student Participated in Bali Asia International Model United Nations

Bali Asia International Model United Nations (BAIMUN) 2019 is a simulation of the UN conference held by the International Global Network (IGN). The recruitment process takes place online with a total of 17,899 registrants. After a selection by BAIMUN committee, there were 462 participants from 44 countries from around the world. One of the students from the Urban and Regional Planning, Ramadhani Nuresa Putri, succeeded in becoming a delegate to the event. The event was held for 4 days, from March 22 to March 25, 2019, at The Westin Resort Nusa Dua Bali, Indonesia. There are 5 series of activities, namely Opening Ceremony (Diplomatic Dinner, MUN 101, and Entertainment Session), Grand Symposium, Meeting Session, City Tour, and Closing Night which is the closing of the five series of events. read more

Department of Architecture and Planning with IAI (Indonesian Architect Association) held the Professional Inauguration Event for Architects

The Department of Architecture and Planning at Universitas Gadjah Mada together with the Indonesian Architects Association (IAI) held an Inauguration of the Architectural Profession on February 25, 2019. Previously, on January 18, 2019, 31 students had been declared eligible to carry out the Judiciary of Professional Architect Education Students. This Architectural Inauguration Event is the first inauguration event (batch 1) conducted by PPArs (Architectural Professional Education) UGM.

PPArs is a continuation study program from Architecture S1 which was initiated by the signing of the MoU between DTAP and IAI in 2011 No.130 / HL17 / TAP / PS2011 and No.024 / MOU / IAI / III / 2011. PPArs’ vision is to produce young architects who are professional, have a high entrepreneurial spirit, and are compliant in accordance with the requirements set by IAI nationally, as well as UIA requirements internationally. PPArs is chaired by Dr. Ir. Jatmika Adi Suryabrata, M.Sc., IAI., and Ir. Adi Utomo Hatmoko, M.Arch, IAI as study program secretary. read more

24 students in the Department of Architecture and Planning Graduate in February

Tuesday, February 19, 2019, the Department of Architecture and Planning released 14 graduates from Architecture Study Program and 14 graduates from Urban and Regional Planning Study Program. The graduation ceremony began at 10:00 in the K1 Room of the Department of Architecture and Planning by singing the Indonesia Raya song and Gadjah Mada Hymn.

The program then continued with the reading of the names of graduates who invited to go forward with their parents for trophy and diploma surrender as a sign of graduation. For Architecture Study Program, the submission carried out by Dr. Eng. Ir. Ahmad Sarwadi, M. Eng. as Chairman of the Department and accompanied by Diananta Pramitasari, S.T., M.Eng., Ph.D. as a representative of the Architecture Study Program. While for Urban and Regional Planning Study Program, the submission carried out by Dr. Eng. Ir. Ahmad Sarwadi, M. Eng. as Chairman of the Department and accompanied by Deva Fosterharoldas Swasto, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D. as a representative of Urban and Regional Planning Study Program. read more
