The Interior Design Student Association (HMDI) of the Department of Interior Design, ITS, held the Kelana program on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Gedung Ajiyasa, 2nd Floor, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, ISI Yogyakarta, Sewon, Panggungharjo, Bantul, Yogyakarta. On this occasion, Pak Adi was invited as the main speaker, delivering a presentation titled “DESIGNING WELLNESS: Exploring Health Space in Architecture and Interior Design.”
In his session, Pak Adi guided participants to understand the fundamentals of hospital design, including the design process, master planning, zoning, and spatial concepts for various healthcare facilities. He emphasized that a hospital is not merely a functional building but also a space that must provide comfort, safety, and a healing experience for patients, medical staff, and visitors alike.
Furthermore, Pak Adi showcased case studies from several hospital projects he has worked on. Through these real examples, workshop participants were able to see how well-executed design can address technical challenges while also improving the overall quality of healthcare services.
This workshop not only enriched students’ knowledge in architecture and interior design but also aligned with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) by supporting the improvement of healthcare facilities, SDG 4 (Quality Education) by providing direct learning from professional practitioners, and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) by highlighting the importance of inclusive and sustainable healthcare infrastructure.
For Pak Adi, this opportunity was not merely about sharing theories and experiences but also about affirming that interior design and architecture play a vital role in creating healthcare spaces that are more humane and meaningful for society at large. Thus, design is not limited to its physical form, but becomes a tangible contribution to human well-being and sustainable living.
