DPD RI Invites DTAP Lecturers to Discuss DIY Spatial Planning Policy

Yogyakarta – The First Committee of the Regional Representative Council of the Republic of Indonesia (DPD RI) held a working meeting as part of its recess agenda for Session III of the 2024–2025 Legislative Year. The meeting, conducted on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at the DPD RI Regional Office in Yogyakarta, aimed to gather insights and conduct a review of the implementation of Law No. 26 of 2007 on Spatial Planning.

Prof. Bakti Setiawan (Prof Bobi) from the Department of Architecture and Planning, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), was invited as one of the key resource persons. His presence was requested directly by Committee I member, Her Highness Gusti Kanjeng Ratu Hemas, to provide academic insights regarding spatial planning developments in the Special Region of Yogyakarta, particularly in the context of Law No. 11 of 2020 on Job Creation, which amended several provisions of the Spatial Planning Law. read more

Learning Tourism Architecture at Samarang Station, Kampung Spoorland

On February 22–23, 2025, eight students from the 2024 cohort of the Tourism Architecture Concentration, Master’s Program in Architecture, DTAP UGM, visited Samarang Station, Kampung Spoorland, East Semarang, for a field study. This activity was accompanied by Ir. Ikaputra, M.Eng., Ph.D. (lecturer at DTAP UGM) and was part of the learning process for the Tourism Architecture Studio 1 course. For the students taking this course, the visit to Samarang Station aimed to: (1) enhance academic insight in the field of architectural research, particularly in tourism architecture; (2) understand the current condition of the Samarang Station area in terms of nature, physical environment, architecture, and local society; and (3) directly practice theoretical studies of tourism architecture in the Samarang Station area. From the field observation and literature review activities related to Samarang Station, the students obtained various visual and textual data. Modern Project Management in Transportation Infrastructure Development

Tuesday, March 25, 2025 – Ir. Ikaputra, M.Eng., Ph.D., attended and delivered opening remarks as the Head of the Center for Transportation and Logistics Studies (PUSTRAL) UGM at a webinar titled “Modern Project Management in Transportation Infrastructure Development.” The event was organized by PUSTRAL UGM and held online via Zoom Meeting, with a live broadcast on PUSTRAL UGM’s YouTube channel.

In his remarks, Ir. Ikaputra emphasized that transportation infrastructure development serves as the backbone of economic growth and equitable regional development. Projects such as toll roads, railways, ports, and airports not only enhance interregional connectivity but also help reduce logistics costs and promote the tourism sector. Yogyakarta, March 3, 2025 – The Urban and Regional Planning Program at Universitas Gadjah Mada (PWK UGM) held another guest lecture as part of the Data Analysis Methods and Techniques course. The lecture, titled Spatial Analysis for Planning, featured Firman Afrianto, S.T., M.T.—a practitioner and consultant in urban and regional planning from PT Sagamartha Ultima—as the main speaker.

The event took place at SGLC Room 5B2 and was opened by the course instructor, Isti Hidayati, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., who also gave an introduction highlighting the importance of spatial analysis in modern urban planning. The Ecobreeze Team won 1st place in the Paper Competition SIGMA 2025, organized by the SEG & HAGI Student Chapter of Universitas Padjadjaran on February 22, 2025. The team consists of Ilkarizia Etro Candra Gabesya (KPJ 2023), Mulky Djati Sabila (KPJ 2023), and Zuhud Ahnaf Fauzi (PWK 2022).

In this competition, the Ecobreeze Team presented a scientific paper titled “ECOBREEZE: An Adaptive, Educational, and Constructive Spatial Technology Program Based on Land Surface Temperature for Reducing Air Conditioning in Urban Heat Islands as a Representation of SDGs 11 and 13 in Surabaya.” This research highlights the impact of Urban Heat Island (UHI) in urban areas and offers a Land Surface Temperature (LST)-based solution to reduce dependence on air conditioning (AC).
