Prof. Dr. Linda W. Fanggidae, S.T., M.T., an alumna of the Architecture Doctoral Program, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), cohort of 2016, has been appointed as a Professor at Universitas Nusa Cendana. This achievement highlights the contribution of UGM Architecture doctoral alumni to the development of architectural knowledge in Indonesia.
In her inaugural professorial address delivered on April 8, 2026, Prof. Linda presented a speech entitled “Architecture and Behavior: Building Spaces for the Human Soul, Interpreting from Pruitt-Igoe to Kios Angalai”. The lecture highlights the relationship between architecture, human behavior, and spatial experience, emphasizing that architecture is not merely about physical form, but also about how space shapes human interaction, meaning, and lived experience.
Prof. Linda underscored that buildings and spaces gain significance through the reciprocal relationship between humans and the built environment. This perspective reinforces the importance of a human-centered and socio-culturally responsive approach in architectural design.
Her achievement contributes to the advancement of architectural education and research, aligning with SDG 4 (Quality Education) through strengthening academic capacity and scholarly contribution, as well as SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) by promoting the creation of more inclusive and sustainable built environments.
