Towards the end of 2023, DTAP students made another achievement through the Indonesia DfGE Design Competition 2023. The event was organized by IFC and EDGE together with 20 partner universities that are members of the Design for Greater Efficiency (DfGE) program engaged in green building. This national competition was attended by 53 participating teams which were then filtered into 10 winners with 5 main winners. Universitas Gadjah Mada itself sent 4 teams, all of which were DTAP students and mentored by Dr. Ir. Jatmika Adi Suryabrata, M.Sc., Dr.Eng. Nedyomukti Imam Syafii, S.T., M.Sc., and Dr.Eng. Agus Haryadi, S.T., M.Sc.

Groningen University, the Netherlands visited the Department of Architecture and Planning, Faculty of Engineering UGM (Thursday, 26/10). Groningen University was represented by Prof. Ronald Holzhacker, Prof. Johan Woltjer, and Dr. Annet Kempenaar. This event was a return visit in the framework of the Faculty of Engineering’s cooperation exploration program with Groningen University last August.
The group was welcomed by Ir. Deva Fosterharoldas Swasto, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., IPM. (Head of the Department of Architecture and Planning) and also Prof. Ir. Bakti Setiawan, MA, Ph.D. (Head of the Urban and Regional Planning Doctoral Program). Followed by a tour of the DTAP environment to see the ongoing teaching and learning activities and student works on display.
On Tuesday (17/10) the Department of Architecture and Planning UGM received a visit from the Bachelor of Architecture program, Wijayakusuma University, Purwokerto. The visit aimed to get information about further studies after graduating from Architecture.

The visit started immediately when a group of students and lecturers from Wijayakusuma University arrived at the Conference Room at 13.30. The group was then welcomed directly by Diananta Pramitasari, S.T., M.Eng., Ph.D. as the head of the Master of Architecture study program. This was followed by a presentation and description of the master’s programs at DTAP, especially the Master of Architecture. Ms. Dian explained about the concentrations in Master of Architecture, the differences with other Master programs and PPAr, and the job prospects of graduates. Friends from Wijayakusuma University seemed enthusiastic to hear the presentation while asking various questions.
On Thursday (7/9) the UGM Urban and Regional Planning (URP) study program received a field study visit from the URP study program, University of Jember, East Java. The visit carried the theme “Development of Environment-Problem Based Tourism Destinations” which aims to study tourism development planning in Yogyakarta. Before visiting UGM, they also visited the Yogyakarta Tourism Office.

Since 11:00 a.m., the group of students and lecturers from Jember University had filled the K3 DTAP room where the visit took place. The group was then welcomed directly by Ir. Deva Fosterharoldas Swasto, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., IPM. representing the PWK study program. The event continued with exposure and description of the PWK study program, such as history, latest curriculum, accreditation, academic activities, and student achievements. Friends from the University of Jember seemed enthusiastic to hear the presentation while asking various questions which were immediately explained by Mr. Deva.
The Department of Architecture and Planning held another graduation ceremony on Tuesday (23/5). There were 2 students from the Architecture undergraduate programme and 14 students from the Urban and Regional Planning undergraduate programme at the graduation ceremony this May.
Since 12.00, the graduates accompanied by their parents or guardians seemed to start arriving at room K1 where the release ceremony was held. The event was then opened by singing the Indonesia Raya song and delivering remarks from Jimly Al Faraby, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D. The graduation ceremony was also attended by all levels of management, lecturers, and staff in the Department of Architecture and Planning.
For the first time after the pandemic, Faculty Fair was presented by Universitas Gadjah Mada at Grha Sabha Pramana (GSP) on 18-19 March 2023. Faculty Fair is an event to introduce faculties, study programmes, and various UGM work units to the general public. In addition to exhibitions that can be visited in person, this Faculty Fair also presents a virtual expo online. In addition, there are also talk shows, campus tours with UGM campus buses, and various door prizes to be distributed to visitors.
ARCH:ID returns to Indonesia for the third time on 16-19 March 2023 at ICE BSD, Tangerang. ARCH:ID is a series of architecture festival events containing conferences, exhibitions, sharing sessions, and BIM seminars organised by the Indonesian Architect Association (IAI) together with PT Citra Inovasi Strategi (CIS) Exhibition. This year’s theme is “Identity?” to invite architects and the wider community to reflect and question the state and potential of Indonesia’s architectural and cultural identity.
The Department of Architecture and Planning once again held an Architect Inauguration and Graduate Release event for the Bachelor program on Wednesday (22/2). Since 13.00 the graduates accompanied by parents / guardians seemed to start arriving at room K1 where the event was held. In this period there were 21 students of the Architect Professional Program who were inaugurated, in addition to 15 undergraduate students of Architecture and 10 undergraduate students of Urban and Regional Planning participated in the release of graduates.
At the beginning of 2023, DTAP students made another achievement through the Asia Young Designer Awards (AYDA) Indonesia Awards. The achievement was made by Salsabila Novitasari, a 2019 Bachelor of Architecture student. Salsabila with her work entitled “Re-Stack!” has won the Gold Winner in the Architecture category. In addition to Salsabila, Yoga Adhi Susila (2018) won the Silver Winner title through his work entitled “Sacred Garden”. Setia Aji Wardana (2019) and Ardana Dayu Suryono (2019) also received Honorary Mention awards at the annual event.
UGM Architecture study programme received another study visit on Thursday (26/1). This time, the field study came from Universitas Halu Uleo (UHO), Kendari. The visit with the theme “Green Smart Building & Culture” also aims to study the new building of the Faculty of Engineering, the SGLC building. The group of UHO students and lecturers were then received by Dr. Ahmad Nasikun, S.T., M.Sc. as the Manager of Student Affairs of the Faculty of Engineering and Nur Zahrotunnisaa Zagi, S.T., M.T. as a representative of Architecture.
