In the previous Professional Studio II, PPAr students of academic year 2024/2025 have finished their studio projects and submitted their works for C40: Reinventing Cities (Students) international competition. The design process, enriched by direct guidance and several reviews by external architects have resulted in an achievement worth to be celebrated. The PPAr students have managed to gain the title of both second champion and third champion at C40: Reinventing Cities under the category of Marconi District Student Housing.

In the spirit of welcoming the new academic year 2025/2026, the Undergraduate Architecture Program held an Archilecture session on Friday, September 12, 2025, featuring Andy Fisher Workshop (AFW) from Singapore. The event carried the theme “Nature, Nurture, & Narrative: Designing Hotels with People and Place in Mind.” AFW was represented by Radhi Maulanza, Associate at AFW. The session took place in Room K1, Department of Architecture and Planning, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Gadjah Mada.
Prof. Ir. Bakti Setiawan M.A., Ph.D., commonly known as Prof. Bobi, served as a speaker in the Knowledge Sharing event on Tuesday, December 2, 2025. The event was organized by P.T. Sarana Multi Infrastruktur and provided valuable insights into the development of tourism and airport operations in Indonesia. Prof. Bobi presented a lecture titled “Tourism and Airport Operations in Indonesia: Current Condition and Its Prospect (Special Case in Heritage Tourism).”
In his introduction, Prof. Bobi emphasized that tourism holds significant potential for economic growth, equitable development, and poverty alleviation. The aspects of hospitality and creativity are increasingly critical in this industry. In addition, transportation facilities such as airports, seaports, and terminals play a vital role, with accessibility being a key factor in the growth of tourism in any region.
Dr. Yani Rahmawati, S.T., M.T. appeared as a speaker at the International Conference on Architecture, Urban, and Settlement (ICARUS) 2025, organized by the Architectural Engineering Study Program of Politeknik Negeri Pontianak. The hybrid conference brought together academics, practitioners, and students from both domestic and international institutions. On Tuesday, November 12, 2025, Dr. Yani attended online as a keynote speaker, offering fresh perspectives on sustainable architectural innovations.
An emotional atmosphere filled the Tedjo Suminto Hall, Department of Architecture and Planning (DTAP), Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Gadjah Mada, on Tuesday, November 25, 2025. A total of 13 students from the Regional and City Planning (PWK) Study Program and 14 students from the Architecture Study Program were officially released as graduating students who would take part in the official graduation ceremony the following day, November 26, 2025. The two-hour event, which began at 1:00 PM, was attended by the students along with their parents and families as a form of support for their academic achievements.
A presentation on the Cosmological Axis of Yogyakarta delivered by Dr. Eng. Ir. Laretna Trisnantari Adhisakti, M.Arch., or Bu Sita, before researchers of the Taiwan Heritage Society on 29 October 2025 introduced a fresh perspective to the global discourse on heritage city management. Representing the UGM–UNESCO Chair, she not only explained Yogyakarta’s achievement as a UNESCO World Heritage Site but also demonstrated how traditional spatial philosophy can inspire modern approaches to sustainability.
The Master’s Program in Architecture of the Built Environment, Department of Architecture, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Brawijaya (FT UB), held a guest lecture titled “Diving, Stepping, and Climbing Through Qualitative Methodologies in Architectural Research” on Wednesday, 12 November 2025. The event featured senior academician from Universitas Gadjah Mada, Prof. Ir. Sudaryono, M.Eng., Ph.D., IPU, as the main speaker. The session took place in the Architecture Department Meeting Room at FT UB, Jalan MT Haryono 167, Malang, and was attended by students and lecturers from various research interest groups.
Yogyakarta, 19 November 2025 – Prof. Ir. Bakti Setiawan, M.A., Ph.D., commonly known as Prof. Bobi, Professor of Urban and Regional Planning at Universitas Gadjah Mada, attended the peak event of the 2025 Gebyar Hari Agraria dan Tata Ruang (Hantaru) at the invitation of the Yogyakarta City Land and Spatial Planning Office (Dinpertaru). The event, themed “Padhang Resik Jogjaku” (Bright and Clean Yogyakarta), took place on Tuesday, 18 November 2025, at Hotel Royal Darmo Malioboro, Yogyakarta. The presence of this senior urban planning expert reflects strong academic support for the city government’s efforts to create a more humane and sustainable urban environment.
Prof. Bakti Setiawan, often known as Pak Bobi, was one of the speakers at the workshop “Protection of Cultural Heritage in the Implementation of Sustainable Infrastructure Development Projects in Indonesia” organized by P.T. Sarana Multi Infrastruktur. The event took place at Hotel Plataran Borobudur, Magelang, on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. It was attended by various stakeholders involved in heritage preservation and infrastructure development. The workshop aimed to strengthen cross-sector collaboration so that cultural heritage preservation efforts can go hand in hand with sustainable development.
Prof. Ir. Wiendu Nuryanti, M.Arch., Ph.D., lecturer at the Department of Architecture and Planning, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Gadjah Mada, served as one of the keynote speakers at the Wonderful Indonesia Tourism Fair (WITF) and Southeast Asia Business Events Forum (SEABEF) 2025. This prestigious event was organized by the Indonesian Tourism Industry Association (GIPI) in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, held at Hall C9, Conference Area, Nusantara International Convention Exhibition (NICE), PIK 2, Tangerang, Banten, October 12, 2025. In her presentation titled Architecture and Tourism, Prof. Wiendu discussed how architecture serves as the heart of Indonesia’s tourism amid rapid global transformations.
