The event featured senior academician from Universitas Gadjah Mada, Prof. Ir. Sudaryono, M.Eng., Ph.D., IPU, as the main speaker. The session took place in the Architecture Department Meeting Room at FT UB, Jalan MT Haryono 167, Malang, and was attended by students and lecturers from various research interest groups. read more

Bakti Setiawan, M.A., Ph.D., commonly known as Prof. Bobi, Professor of Urban and Regional Planning at Universitas Gadjah Mada, attended the peak event of the 2025 Gebyar Hari Agraria dan Tata Ruang (Hantaru) at the invitation of the Yogyakarta City Land and Spatial Planning Office (Dinpertaru). The event, themed “Padhang Resik Jogjaku” (Bright and Clean Yogyakarta), took place on Tuesday, 18 November 2025, at Hotel Royal Darmo Malioboro, Yogyakarta. Urban Planning Studio Students of UGM Participate in Focus Group Discussions on Code River Area Planning

Students from the Urban Area Planning Studio in the Urban and Regional Planning Program (PWK), Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) actively participated in the planning activities for the Code River area, organized by the Division of Housing and Settlement Areas, Department of Public Works, Housing, and Settlement Areas (PUPKP) of Yogyakarta City. This initiative is part of the Yogyakarta City Government’s efforts to formulate an integrated direction for the development and management of the Code River area. Through their involvement, students had the opportunity to connect academic analysis with the real-world needs and dynamics of urban planning in the field. read more

The Gadjah Mada City Festival Returns at Festagama 13.0

Yogyakarta, June 1, 2025 — The Gadjah Mada City Festival (Festagama) returned in 2025. Festagama is an annual festival open to the public, organized by students of the Urban and Regional Planning Program, Department of Architecture and Planning, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Gadjah Mada—specifically the 2023 and 2024 cohorts. The festival serves as a space for creative exploration that connects art, the city, and the community.

The 13th edition, Festagama 13.0, carries the theme “Citra Musim Rupa Kota” (Seasons of the City’s Images). This theme invites participants to explore urban dynamics through the diversity of seasons, showcasing how a city can adapt to various seasonal changes—covering aspects of urban infrastructure, city image and experience, and the aesthetics of public spaces. read more

Matereality: Hotel Ventilation System by Daikin

The Architecture Program of Universitas Gadjah Mada held a Matereality Lecture on Friday, August 29, 2025, at Lecture Room 1 (K1). The session, which took place from 08:30 to 11:00 WIB, featured Daikin Air Conditioning as the guest speaker, presenting a special topic on ventilation systems in hotel buildings.

The lecture opened with remarks from Ms. Nur Zahrotunnisaa Zagi, who explained the course contract for Matereality as well as the point-based system, which serves as a prerequisite for enrolling in the Materiality in Architecture course. The event was attended by undergraduate architecture students and was mandatory for students of the Comprehensive Technology Studio, as the hotel design theme directly aligned with the studio project for the semester. read more

On Tuesday, August 26, 2025, the Department of Architecture and Planning (DTAP), Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Gadjah Mada held a graduation ceremony for prospective graduates of the Architecture and Urban and Regional Planning (URP) undergraduate programs. The event took place at the DTAP inner court, decorated with outdoor tents, and was held from 13.00 to 15.30 WIB. This farewell ceremony has become a regular tradition prior to the official commencement at Grha Sabha Pramana (GSP) UGM the following day. read more

Visit of Adamson University – College of Architecture, Philippines to DTAP UGM

Yogyakarta, August 21, 2025 – The Department of Architecture and Planning (DTAP), Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Gadjah Mada, welcomed an academic visit from Adamson University – College of Architecture, Philippines. The delegation was led by Sylvester Shaun D. Seño, MArch-CTM, ASEAN Ar, Dean of the College of Architecture, with the primary purpose of conducting a benchmarking study of UGM’s Bachelor of Architecture program.

The visit began with an official discussion session at the DTAP meeting room, where the Adamson University delegation was introduced to UGM’s undergraduate architecture curriculum. The presentation covered learning strategies, graduate learning outcomes, and the development of academic programs aligned with the future needs of the architecture profession. This exchange also reflected UGM’s commitment to supporting SDG 4: Quality Education through continuous improvement of higher education quality and innovative, globally adaptive teaching methods. read more

Field Study of MPWK UGM in Krakitan Village: Learning from the Community, Building Theory from Reality

From May 23 to 25, 2025, students of the Master of Urban and Regional Planning (MPWK) Program at Universitas Gadjah Mada conducted a field study for the Research Methodology course in Krakitan Village, Bayat District, Klaten Regency. The activity aimed to apply an inductive approach directly in the field as a method to build planning knowledge grounded in local social, cultural, and environmental realities.

The first day began with a visit to the Krakitan Village Head’s office for an interview about the village’s history and to map observation points. Afterwards, students were divided into three groups (Macro, Meso, and Micro) to conduct interviews with residents. In addition to collecting social and economic data, students observed how daily activities and local history shape the village’s space and identity. read more

Monday, August 25, 2025, marked the Inauguration of the Architect Profession for the August 2025 Period. The ceremony was held at Pendapa Tedjo Suminto and attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Gadjah Mada, faculty members of the Architecture Program, invited guests including representatives from IAI and external architectural partners, and, of course, the main highlight of the event: the students being inaugurated.

The event began with the singing of Indonesia Raya and the Hymn of Gadjah Mada, followed by opening remarks from the Dean of FT UGM, Prof. Ir. Selo, S.T., M.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., and a speech by the Chairman of IAI, Ar. Georgius Budi Yulianto, S.T., M.T., IAI, AA. The ceremony then continued with the signing of a cooperation charter by the Dean of FT UGM, Prof. Ir. Selo, S.T., M.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., representing DTAP UGM, alongside Ar. Arwan Suryanto, S.T., M.Sc., IAI; R. Bimanova Adiasta Permana, S.Ars. (CV Permana Adikinarya); Jonathan Sanjaya, S.T., IAI (CV Sanjaya Architecture); Ar. Arief Isrefidianto, S.T., MAUD, IAI (PT Cipta Tuntas Laras); Ar. Wahju Wulandari, S.T., MBA, IAI, AA (PT Global Rancang Selaras); and Ar. Primavera Desta A.P., S.T., M.Sc.
