Localinsa is a local tourism organization based in Seoul, focusing on community-based tourism development and the preservation of neighborhood identity. The connection between Localinsa and the 2025 UGM KKA students was facilitated by a UGM Architecture lecturer, whose collaboration with Localinsa began during her doctoral studies in Seoul. This partnership has included various ecotourism projects that emphasize environmental sustainability, local community involvement, and the strengthening of cultural values.
On August 4, 2025, Architecture Department lecturer at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Odilia Renaningtyas Manifesty, S.T., MA(UD), Ph.D., accepted an invitation from the Department of Architecture, Korea University. This visit was an important part of DTAP UGM’s international agenda aimed at strengthening academic networks, expanding collaboration opportunities, and enriching academic experiences for both faculty members and students at the global level.
During the visit, Dr. Odilia was directly involved in several strategic academic activities. One of them was serving as a thesis examiner for master’s (S2) students in the field of architecture. This examination provided a platform for exchanging academic perspectives across countries, as well as appreciating research conducted by international students.
Master’s students of Architecture, Class of 2024, Architectural Design Concentration, Universitas Gadjah Mada, successfully held their final Studio presentation on Monday, June 16, 2025. In this event, each student participated in a display and exhibition to present their works as the outcome of the Studio 1 Architectural Design course, which has been carried out over the past semester.
Throughout the course, students were divided into two thematic groups: the “shadow” group and the “corner” group. Three lecturers guided the students in developing these themes: Harry Kurniawan, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D. (supervisor for the “corner” theme); Dr.Eng. Alexander Rani Suryandono, S.T., M.Arch. (supervisor for the “shadow” theme); and Ar. Arief Isrefidianto, S.T., MAUD., IAI (supervisor for both themes).
On Tuesday, June 16, 2025, six Master’s students of Architecture (Class of 2024), Universitas Gadjah Mada, who are enrolled in the Studio 2 course within the Architectural Design Research Group (KBK Desain Arsitektur), conducted their final presentations showcasing the research they had undertaken throughout the semester.
Each student carried out a semester-long research project under the supervision of the KBK Architectural Design faculty members: Prof. Ir. Tarcicius Yoyok Wahyu Subroto, M.Eng., Ph.D., IPU; Diananta Pramitasari, S.T., M.Eng., Ph.D.; Syam Rachma Marcillia, S.T., M.Eng., Ph.D.; Mario Lodeweik Lionar, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D.; and Odilia Renaningtyas Manifesty, S.T., MA(UD)., Ph.D.
Ir. Adi Utomo Hatmoko, M.Arch., IAI., AA., an architect and active academic from Department of Architecture and Planning, Universitas Gadjah Mada, was invited as a guest lecturer for the Architectural Design Studio 2 course in the Master’s Program of Architecture at Petra Christian University, Surabaya. The session was held on Friday, June 20, 2025, from 16.00 to 18.30 WIB at the Main Hall Pascasarjana, Room P 03.04, 3rd Floor. His presence brought valuable insights and strengthened the students’ learning experience through a practical, real-world-based approach.
Friday, March 21, 2025 – The Master of Urban Design Program at Universitas Gadjah Mada held an Iftar Gathering with current Urban Design students and alumni from KARTAGAMA. The event took place in Room K1, 2nd Floor, and was opened and accompanied by the Head of Program, Dr. Dyah Titisari Widyastuti, S.T., MUDD, and lecturer Ir. Ikaputra, M.Eng., Ph.D.
Reflecting the event’s theme, “Sharing Stories and Aspirations in Urban Design,” the gathering began with introductions between alumni and students, followed by a storytelling session where alumni shared their joyful experiences in the world of urban design—both during their academic years and in their professional careers, as academics and practitioners.
Yogyakarta, June 11, 2025 — Ir. Adi Utomo Hatmoko, M.Arch., an Architecture lecturer at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), had the honor of serving as one of the key speakers in the Architectural Advanced Professional Development Course (AAPDC), an advanced architectural competency development initiative organized by Ikatan Arsitek Indonesia (IAI). This program represents a collaborative effort between the IAI National Board and Provincial Chapters and serves as an annual forum for enhancing the professional capabilities of architects through specialized and context-relevant content. Topics include building design, construction technologies, and professional regulations.
Dr. Ir. Arif Kusumawanto, M.T., IPU., a lecturer from the Department of Architecture and Planning Engineering at Universitas Gadjah Mada and a member of the Technology Research Group, has published a scientific paper titled “Enhanced Mechanical Properties of the Additively Manufactured Modified Hybrid Stereolithography (SLA)–Glass Powder.” This Scopus-indexed research successfully enhances the mechanical properties of ready-to-use resin products fabricated through additive manufacturing using stereolithography (SLA) reinforced with glass powder.
As an effort to broaden students’ knowledge in the field of Architecture, particularly in materials, the Undergraduate Architecture Program at Universitas Gadjah Mada once again held a field study called the “MateREALity Trip” for 32 students who actively attended the Architectural Materiality (MateREALity) classes last semester. This class regularly collaborates with various building material manufacturers and architectural practitioners every Friday and is open to all Architecture students at UGM. The MateREALity Trip has been held since 2022 with past destinations including Tangerang and Jakarta (December 18–20, 2022), Surabaya and Malang (August 7–9, 2023), Bandung (April 25–28, 2024), BSD and Bintaro Design District Jakarta (November 7–10, 2024), and now returning to Jakarta from April 10–13, 2025.
Yogyakarta, May 30, 2025 – The Undergraduate Program in Urban and Regional Planning at Universitas Gadjah Mada held a guest lecture on May 30, 2025, with the topic “Principles and Implementation of Resilient Cities in Contemporary Urban Development through a Global Perspective.” The lecture was conducted online and open to the general public.
This session invited Nini Purwajati, Programs Lead and Head of Asia Pacific Engagement at Resilient Cities Network, as the speaker to share her knowledge and experiences related to the concept of Resilient Cities.
