Kamisan Lesehan Ilmiah for Doctoral Students: Sharing Knowledge, Experiences, and Motivation Through Architectural Sketches

The Doctoral Architecture Student Association participated in the Kamisan Lesehan Ilmiah with the theme “Sharing Knowledge, Experiences, and Motivation Through Architectural Sketches.”

The topic was presented through the solo exhibition of Prof. Ir. Ikaputra, M. Eng., Ph.D., entitled “A Solo Exhibition: Biographical Sketches of Ikaputra”. Through this exhibition, visitors were invited to explore how sketches can represent more than just lines and drawings. The visit was not only an opportunity to appreciate artworks but also a valuable moment for doctoral architecture students to gain motivation and translate the inspiration into their own creative works. read more

Two Doctoral Candidates in Architecture at DTAP FT UGM Present Research on Urban Sustainability and Landscape Identity

The Doctoral Program in Architecture, Department of Architectural Engineering and Planning (DTAP), Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), conducted two Doctoral Candidate Closed Examinations in April and May 2026. These academic activities represent an important stage in the doctoral research process, highlighting architectural studies that contribute to a deeper understanding of urban issues through scientific approaches.

The first closed examination was held on April 6, 2026, for Doctoral Candidate Husna Izzati with the dissertation title “Kontinuitas Identitas Lanskap Pusat Kota Lama Bandung” (Continuity of Landscape Identity in the Old City Center of Bandung). This research explores how the identity of Bandung’s Old City Center landscape was formed, transformed, and maintained throughout the city’s development. Through a qualitative case study approach and historical-morphological analysis, the research reveals that the continuity of landscape identity is not only shaped by physical elements but also by the persistence of functions and symbolic meanings embedded within the urban space. read more

UGM Professor Provides Strategic Perspectives on the Development of Sultanate and Duchy Strategic Spatial Units in Yogyakarta

Prof. Ir. Bakti Setiawan, M.A., Ph.D., a faculty member of the Department of Architecture and Planning, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), served as a keynote speaker in a dissemination event on Spatial Planning Documents covering the Yogyakarta Special Region Spatial Plan (RTRW) 2023–2043 and the Development Strategy for the Sultanate and Duchy Strategic Spatial Units (Satuan Ruang Strategis/SRS) 2023–2043. The event was organized by the Government of the Special Region of Yogyakarta on Monday, May 25, 2026, at the Adhikari Meeting Room of the Regional Land and Spatial Planning Agency (DISPERTARU DIY). read more

DTAP FT UGM Lecturer Delivered a Session at the 2026 International Collaborative Studio 5.0

A lecturer from the Department of Architecture and Planning Engineering (DTAP), Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Ir. Ar. Adi Utomo Hatmoko, M.Arch., IAI., AA., served as one of the speakers at the International Collaborative Studio (ICS) 5.0 in 2026. This international program was a collaboration between the Architecture Study Program of Universitas Brawijaya, Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), and The University of Western Australia (UWA).

On this occasion, Adi Utomo Hatmoko delivered a presentation entitled “Designing a Student Hub,” which discussed the importance of designing communal student spaces as an integral part of the campus environment. The presentation highlighted how a student hub functions not only as an academic support facility, but also as a space for collaboration, social interaction, creativity, and student community development. read more

DTAP FT UGM Graduates 13 Students from the Architecture and URP Programs for the May 2026 Period

The Department of Architecture and Planning Engineering (DTAP), Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Gadjah Mada once again held a Graduation Farewell Ceremony for students of the Undergraduate Architecture Study Program and the Undergraduate Urban and Regional Planning (URP) Study Program for the May 2026 period. The event served as an appreciation of the students’ academic achievements as they completed their studies and prepared to pursue their professional and academic journeys.

In this period, the Undergraduate Architecture Study Program graduated 4 students who had completed their yudisium process on January 30, 2026, and April 20, 2026. All graduates received the distinction of Sangat Memuaskan (Highly Satisfactory) with an average GPA of 3.27. The highest GPA was achieved by Kurnia Faliandra Wijaya with a GPA of 3.40. Meanwhile, the shortest study period was completed by Nuha Mehrunisa in 4 years and 8 months, while the youngest graduate was Shanata Alfika Nugrahani at the age of 22 years and 7 months. read more

DTAP FT UGM Lecturer Wins AAS International Hospital Design Competition in Makassar

Adi Utomo Hatmoko, a lecturer from the Department of Architecture and Planning (DTAP), Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), together with his team, won the AAS International Hospital Design Competition located in Panaikang, Panakkukang District, Makassar, South Sulawesi. The competition winners were officially announced at the end of April 2026.

Through their proposal entitled “AAS International Hospital: Infinity in Harmony – Healing, Smart Living, and Human Well-being,” the team introduced the concept of an integrated healthcare development that combines medical services, residential facilities, hospitality functions, and commercial spaces within a modern and interconnected environment. The design was developed with a strong emphasis on user comfort and well-being as the central focus of the project. read more

Focus Group Discussion on Spatial Planning for the Jeron Beteng Low Emission Zone (KRE)

On Friday, February 13, 2026, students of the Comprehensive Urban Design Studio participated in a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on Spatial Planning for the Low Emission Zone (KRE) of Jeron Beteng. The activity was conducted under the supervision of Prof. Ikaputra and Prof. Bambang Hari Wibisono, and initiated by the Pusat Studi Transportasi dan Logistik UGM. This FGD served as an integral part of the studio learning process, with Jeron Beteng designated as the study object, allowing students to directly engage with real-world urban planning challenges. read more

The new cohort of the Master of Urban Design Program (Batch 9) conducted the Matriculation Program for Urban Design Studio Preparation from February 2–6, 2026. This activity marked an initial stage in entering the academic process for the even semester of the 2025/2026 academic year. The Salatiga City Center area was selected as the study object for the Urban Design Studio, providing students with the opportunity to directly observe the dynamics of an urban area with its unique characteristics, potentials, and challenges within the context of urban design. read more

Warid Zul Ilmi’s journey reflects the spirit of the Master by Research pathway at MURP UGM

Warid Zul Ilmi (Warid) is the first student of the research-based master’s program, known as the Master by Research (MBR), at the Master of Urban and Regional Planning (MPWK), Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Gadjah Mada. He joined MPWK UGM in the Even Semester of the 2023/2024 Academic Year, bringing strong enthusiasm and dedication to research as a means of understanding, interpreting, and responding to various urban development challenges.
